The Renegades is a network for filmmakers who refuse to wait their turn.
We’re a response to the endless loop of ghosted fellowship apps, $75 rejection emails, and elusive festivals that don't offer the filmmaker much besides a photo op.
A home built for filmmakers by filmmakers. Consider this the headquarters for the relentless, the overlooked, the self-funded - who kept getting told “not this time.”
This is where you do something about it.
This is our time.
Turn it into fuel.
We’re really happy you're here.
Membership
Here’s what you get when you roll with us:
-
Seminars with industry pros who tell the truth, not the brochure version. The stuff you wish you learned in film school and can only learn “on the job” as they say.
-
Our platform to showcase work with zero middlemen. We take 4x dynamic short films around NYC and screen in pop up venues- bringing indie cinema to the people who never get to see it.
-
A Yearly Microgrant that puts money directly into a filmmaker’s hands.
Short Film?
Feature Script?
We offer $600 to winners, feedback to every applicant and a professional schedule to the runners up. NO OTHER FESTIVAL does that.
-
This 4-Month International Writers Intensive is a global writers room that pushes your story past safe. Held virtually with writers across the globe, we dig deep into each others scripts with the intention of having finished ready. To sell or make work in 4 months.
-
That Isn’t Boring—connect with renegades worldwide who actually share resources.
-
Grants, jobs, events, and raw filmmaking intel you won’t find anywhere else.

The Renegades Micro Production Grant
Isn’t a festival or a grant—it’s a call to action.
Born from the collective arm of indie production Picture Story Studios... The Renegades Micro Production Grant is a screenwriting "competition" for filmmakers, by filmmakers.
"Competition" because art is subjective and the goal here is to build a community and share resources to help powerful stories get told.
This grant exists to uplift those building their own paths outside the system.
We believe stories work best when they embrace diversity and the world we live in.
If your script is undeniable, we’ll help you make it real.
Without politics or adhering to outdated systems.
Our first year received 112 submissions from 12 different countries.
Winners: "The Literary Circle of Kabul" By Fazila Amiri & "The Uterus Usurped" by Stephanie Kalogriopoulos
Runners Up: "Vital" Amir Zargara & "The Line Up" by Nathan Bouie
